The GR-2 grill is a handy alternative to cooking on an outside grill if you don't have a lot of food to cook. It heats up quickly and makes nice grill marks. My wife and I have used it to grill chicken breasts and make panini sandwiches. It does a good job of adjusting to fit varying thicknesses of food. We used wet paper towels to clean it up without too much trouble. We have only had it for about a month, so I can't comment on it's durability, although it does seem to be well constructed.

Ours was the Griddler Express. Bought 5 years ago or when first came out. We use it everyday, 2 to 3 times per day. Toast (homemade, dense & sliced thick) in the morning, Panini's after school (4 kids all within one year of age), and hamburgers during the week.
Didn't want removable plates. Something else to go wrong. Griddler stays on the counter top all the time, sitting on a flat baking pan. The counter doesn't get drippings on it. When cooking burgers, we open the top and it drips on the baking pan and the griddler. Most of the time just wipe down with damp cloth. After cooking meat, I would clean in the sink with the hand sprayer. Just hold the handle with one hand, angle the griddler down, then spray and scrub with the other. Cleaning the griddle isn't an issue with me.
3 months ago the knob stopped working. It wouldn't turn off. The setting was on high at the time, so we continued to use by plugging and unplugging the electric cord. This morning the griddler has died. I think the electric elements have a certain life span and we may have found it.
Good product, I'll probably buy another one today (got to have my morning toast). We bought this one for $40, on sale somewhere. Maybe Cuisinart has improved the control knob and extended the life of the electric elements in the grill. I'll let you know in another 5 yrs ....................hopefully. For the price you can't go wrong.
I gave it a three because, Cuisinart can make a better control knob and electrical elements that last longer than 5 yrs.

After only using this grill a few times I have already thrown it out. Almost immediately the temperature selector knob came loose and ultimately failed to set the temperature at all rendering it useless. It was perpetually stuck on low. In addition it is extremely difficult to clean. I love the way it cooks so next up I am going to try another brand with removeable grill plates. Save your money on this one and go straight for one of those.

Am still amazed at how great a product this is. Makes the best sandwiches in a matter of minutes. Favorite is spinach, red pepper, red onion and provolone. Have grilled sliced portobella mushrooms and yams and makes the best grilled bread! Inside is extremely easy to clean using a damp cloth and looks great on counter. Very happy with purchase!

I felt bad when my forman grill bit the dust after years of service.Now that I have the Cuisinart GR-2 M feelings have
greatly improved,this is a much better grill
