I bought this product online and after one weeks use the non stick coating is comming off.I contacted cuisinart and they told me that the 3yr warrantee is not good due the online purchase and that the serial# will validate weather the warrantee is valid or not.Had i gone to a dept.store like MACYS,it would be under warrantee.This tells me that CUISINART does not back up their product as they claim.I WILL NEVER BUY CUISINART PRODUCTS AGAIN.

I've discovered that there are two models of this machine that (at first) look the same. You don't notice the difference until you take the removable plates off. The model I bought (at Costco) has a heating element that only goes around the perimeter of the unit (both top and bottom) - The other model has elements that have a more even distribution of heat. (I have a friend who has this model) Mine said "Griddler Gourmet" on the box, his came under a different name. I've discovered that in order to make sure food cooks evenly - you have to allow the grill a full 10 minutes of preheat time. The other model cooks evenly with less preheat time.
Both models have the same problems with grease runoff - the tilt of the machine doesn't really allow for liquids to drain in the little cup - they mostly stay on the grill unless you are cooking something with a LOT of fat. Also, any fat that clings to the top of the grill will run down the back of the unit on to the counter (I keep a towel behind the unit while I cook for this reason - not touching the grill!)
Aside from that - I like cooking on the unit. I've had it about 6 months now. It works well for grilled sandwiches, searing steaks and Ahi Tuna, cooking burgers, chicken breasts, sausage and more. The removable plates clean up nicely. I've used the grddler dozens and dozens of times and have yet to see any wear on the plate coating. I have been careful not to ove- scrub them.
If it weren't for the poor drainage, I would give it 4 stars.

I bought this on sale at Costco and used it once - then noticed the label on the top said "remove before use" so it did. The chome finish on the top is so soft that I scratched it with my fingernail! It is softter than plastic! [...].

i wanted this item for a long time and finally ordered it here after my daughter bought me another brand as a gift and it did not work as shown .. after ordering it here (130), i found it for (99) elsewhere, so i returned this one and reordered it ..
i used the grill as soon as i received it and, although i love this grill, there are things that could be better .. one being that it would help to have an adjustable knob on the top grill to hold it at a certain height when grilling smaller sandwiches .. another thing that would be nice would be if there was a way to lock the grill so you could store it upright ..
i love that the plates are removable and clean easily; that was one of my main points with returning the one my daughter bought me ..
now, after reading the other reviews, i am wary of their warnings and will keep an eye on this grill with each use ..
(i do have to admit, amazon made it extremely easy to return the item by printing up a return slip on-line)

I wanted a panini type of grill and loved the look of this Cuisinart griddler/grill. Unfortunately, I was highly disappointed as it did not seem to get hot enough, evenly to cook well.
I used it THREE times. The fourth time I went to use it, it would not get hot. AT ALL. The indicator lights were clearly on, it was plugged in. I took it back the next day to the store I bought it.
This is the second time I have been disappointed with a Cuisinart product. The first was their burr coffee grinder, which I had for less than two months. It too stopped working for no reason. I took it back, but because I really wanted one that worked, I ended up getting the same one, but at a different store. So far, it's OK (after about 10 months of use).
I will probably never buy another Cuisinart product unless I see 50+ positive reviews on Amazon. I think their product quality has greatly slipped.
