"I like the Cuisinart pots and pans" 2009-10-13
By E. Parker (The Big Apple)
I like Cuisinart pots and pans in general. I have a number of pieces that I have bought individually and use them all the time. When my daughter got her own apartment and needed pots and pans I bought her this set. It is a terrific deal. The only problem is that I don't think that the pots and pans in this set are as good or heavy as the ones I have purchased previously on an individual basis. I guess they had to do something to make this set so affordable. For a beginner or for someone who is not a serious cook, this is a really good, complete set, but if you are a serious cook you might want to go with something a little better.

I love everything about this set, except for one complaint: When you lift a lid to stir, it drips condensation because of the design of the lid...curved up instead of down.

Heat distribution is outstanding and I think the pots and pans are a great value.

"Great set for a ceramic cook top!" 2009-10-07
By Kristen (TN)
We moved into a house with a ceramic cook top and learned that our set of aluminum pans would scratch it and ruin it. So we were on the hunt for a good stainless set. After a lot of research, we decided to try these. We looked at the more expensive brands, and found that these are a great buy - unless you're one of those who need to have the most expensive stuff. They work great, clean up is a snap. Glad we got them & would buy them again!

Happy cooking! : )

 "Best Cookware" 2009-10-05
By Cindy K. (Indiana)
Have always used non-stick cookware, but heard that stainless is the way to go. Since I had no experience with it, I decided to get this set because it wasn't priced too high. I have NEVER been happier with a set of cookware! It performs exactly as promised and is a breeze to clean (food does tend to stick on pans, but easily fixed by spraying with non-stick cooking spray). I would recommend this set to anyone !!

Great product, i'm thinking of ways so i can use it, so far i've done butternut squash soup and made a quiche. Very powerful motor, and easy to clean. I purchased one years ago, but my husband used it to mix paint with, so it goes without saying that it no longer worked. When making the scrambled eggs for the quiche, i held the blender all the way to the bottom of the container and it actually picked it up without holding, the motor is that strong.

 "My favorite kitchen appliance" 2009-10-21
By Still a Student
I have had this food processor for almost 4 years. I have used it while in college, out of college and now in grad school. It saves so much time and allows me to cook even when I'm busy. I make bread, pie crust, salsa, guacamole, shred cheese, slice veggies and use it for numerous other things. I cook for 2 people - my husband and myself. I will probably want a larger one when we have kids someday, but it works great for the 2 of us, or even when I make larger quantities for parties. Every kitchen needs one of these. And - keep it out on your counter so you can use it everyday! If you put it away, you probably won't use it as much.

By Tom Johnson (Seattle area, USA)
I had seen a RAW Foodist use this in a DVD I had purchased and she had only good things to say about it. I had bought one for my daughter and she loved it. I was feeling a need to replace my GE processor as I've had it for years. When I recieved my processor I watched the video (that came with it) right away. It was a Great help. I made a huge pan of scallop potatoes. I had them uniformly sliced in no time. My husband was even impressed. I liked that it didn't make the slices paper thin. The video showed tricks to getting even slices of everything including onions. It does a great job of pureeing foods for my grand daughter also. I feel it is worth every penny I paid for it. I absolutely love it. It does a wonderful job and is saving me a ton of time.

I really like this processor for the price. One difference between a more expensive one is that the feeder tube is located in the front instead of the back, and the locking mechanism is a little cheap, not sure if it will take years of wear and tear I have in store for it. Other than that it's fine for now. Carrie

I received my lovely new food processor in excellent condition. I really loved my old one (Hamilton Beech) which I had for many years until I tried the Cuisinart. It is sooooooo fantastic by the way it chops, grates & slices food in a flash!!! Also, the motor is very powerful and quiet, unlike my old machine. I didn't know what I was missing all these years. This was definitely a good choice for me and it fits perfect in the same spot as the old food processor. There are just two of us, so the 7-cup processor works great! I would highly recommend it!!

 "Recipe for disaster" 2009-09-21
By Jesse C. (New York, NY)
I feel a little guilty writing a negative review for this product, because I've really enjoyed having grilled food. I would definitely recommend getting an indoor grill, just not this one. This one has a couple of design flaws:

1) Grease tray just barely sits at the front of the unit. Doesn't catch all of the drips and isn't attached, which wouldn't be a big deal if it weren't for the...

2) Booby-trapped rear leg latch, which WILL throw hot grease on you. The back latch frequently un-latches if you bump the unit or, say, close the lid, causing the unit to rapidly move to the flat position, the front legs to shove forward propelling the catch tray off the counter, dumping its contents all over your pants and the floor. Many, many expletives have been shouted at this machine.

3) Attachment points for the grill plates are very cheaply made. The clips on a demo unit I saw in [department store] were broken. (Must say, though, that removable plates make cleaning a breeze.)

SUMMARY: I'm not going to return this to the store, but I really wish I didn't have to jury-rig a rear leg backup safety latch. The removable plates make cleaning easy but cooking slightly uneven, and will probably break at some point. All in all, not that great of a product.

 "Disappointment" 2009-09-20
By C. Reid (Purlear, NC USA)
I purchased this item to replace a lean and mean foreman grill in a concession stand. This item is 1/4 in size and takes an hour to cook 12 hot dogs so this does not work in a half time situation. I ordered this because I cannot find a replacement for the other one we loved. I would not recommend this to anyone.

 "very disappointed" 2009-06-24
By sue reviews (atlanta)
I have used a number of the small Foreman grills for cooking in the summer. They all cooked hot and fast, which is my reason for using one.

But they were small and I wanted one that I could cook a full meat at once, meat, veggies, etc.

I also wanted removable plate for easy cleanup.

This one looked like it would do what I wanted. The size was right and it had the removable plates...

But it takes forever to heat up, and it does not get really hot...it just kind of slowly steams the food.

I used it twice just to be sure...Then I returned it to the store.

It is possible that I got a bad one but I suspect a design problem. There is a metal plate which covers the heating element, and I think this prevents the heat from getting to the cooking plates.

"It works but I'm not sure it is accurate to call this a grill" 2009-03-07
By gmanvbva
This is our fourth GF grill. We have had this for almost 2 months now and use it frequently.

I like the design and the removable plates. It cleans easily and the plates are easy to snap on and off. The cord is a little short so you will need to set this on a counter with 1-2 feet of an outlet.

We have cooked chicken breast, hamburgers, brats, quesadillas and steaks on this. It cooks all items thoroughly.

The one gripe (and it is a big one in my opinion) is that this does not really get hot enough to actually grill what you are cooking. It cooks items thoroughly but does not brown/grill the food. This is the main reason I knocked off two stars on it. I mean, this is a grill that does not actually grill anything.

From my research before purchasing this grill, this seems to be common to all of the George Foreman grills that have removable plates. This grill was one of the most recent models so I thought this may have a chance at being better than some of the others reviewed. The gamble did not really pay off.

We had gift cards that were almost ready to expire so I was searching for something we needed. This ended up being the best item we needed from that particular store. If we had to pay out of pocket for this, we would likely would have returned it. It works, but for $100+ it should do a better job at actually grilling items.

"Not as good as the older Foreman grill..." 2009-02-05
By J. Boyd (Kingsville, MD.)
Recently dropped and broke an older Foreman grill, so I chose this as a replacement. The older grill was the type with non-removable plates, and washing it was a pain. I thought this grill would be easier to maintain since the plates (grilling surfaces) were removable. Well, it is easier to just toss the plates into the dishwasher for cleaning which is a bonus, but this grill takes much longer to heat up to cooking temperature than the old grill did. It also does not grill evenly at all, as the food items near the outer edges barely get cooked, while the items nearer the center get cooked quickly; therefore you have to move the food around on this grill whereas that was unnecessary on the older model. I would imagine that this problem is caused by the actual heating elements being farther away from the grilling surface due to the removeability feature of the plates.

Other complaints include the power cord being way too short (2' long). Come on, couldn't they make it at least 3' long to reach the nearest outlet, or is my counter top and outlet location different from the norm?

Be very careful with the adjustable rear leg latch. If you try to slightly move the grill on your counter while it is in the angled position, the rubber feet on the legs will grab the counter surface (which is designed to keep the grill from sliding around) thereby causing the latch to release and abruptly lowering the grill to a level position. This, in turn, causes the grill to push the grease-catcher tray forward; thereby spilling some hot grease.

I can't be all negative about this product though, there are some good points. At least this model has adjustable temperature settings, graduating between Low and High, which allows a wider range of foods to be cooked on the grill. Clean up is very easy since the plates are removeable. There is a separate, flat, grilling plate included with this model which also allows a wider range of foods to be cooked; versus the older model with only ribbed grilling plates. The stainless steel color perfectly matches all of the other stainless steel appliances in my kitchen. And finally, the size and shape of the grilling surface (square) is much improved over the somewhat elliptical shape of the previous grill. This allows for the cooking of 5 Bubba burgers at one time rather than the 4 that the old grill allowed.

In summary, I feel that Salton grills(which is the manufacturer)which Foreman puts his name on, should hire a few more quality control people and engineers to produce a product without some of these pesky quirks. Hence, only 3 stars.

"This George Foreman Grill is perfect!" 2009-08-17
By Phyllis K. Buonopane (Coconut Creek, FL)
I had a George Foreman Grill and I hated it because I couldn't get it really clean. This Grill is great. The removable plates are the best thing to be added. Now, the Grill is so easy to clean. I've only used the grilling plates. I haven't tried the waffle or the baking/griddle plates yet. The square shape and the raised platform like bottom are another plus. It doesn't seem to take as much room on the counter top. It is worth every penny of the price.

I'm thinking of ordering this George Foreman Grill for my son and daughter for Christmas

"Very pleased with this item" 2009-08-12
By pc (Winter Springs, FL USA)
I ordered the G5 grill about 6 weeks ago and I use it about 3 times a week. I'm very pleased with it. The removable plates are very convenient-- just pop them off and stick them in the dishwasher. In some of the reviews, people complained of uneven heating, but if you follow the directions and let it heat up first, you will not have this problem. The heating surface underneath the plates that gets hot is smaller than the plates, so one must first allow time for the heat to conduct throughout the plates before placing food on the grill to cook. I like that the grill has an adjustable angle to allow fat or other liquids to drain off away from the food-- it allows me to sear scallops perfectly, because they don't end up being poached in their own juices like when you pan fry. Another plus, is this grill serves as several appliances in one-- waffle iron, panini, grill, griddle, and supposedly you can even use it to bake cookies.

 "Over-priced, doesn't last" 2009-02-09
By G. Petty (Virginia)
Had an original unit from a yard sale and loved it, but I wanted a larger, more versatile grill. Bought the G5 unit when it first hit the market in 2006.. Paid 103.99, plus $30 for the omelet plates.

No matter what meat or veggie I cooked with the steak plates, it stuck. Waited for the green light to go out- check, cooking spray - check, no cooking spray- check, triple-check the correct temp setting as listed in provided cookbook- check, thawed- check, frozen- check. Oh well.

Waffle plates do not heat evenly , the sides are undercooked and the middle crisped.

The baking pan actually works well for pizza, biscuits, pancakes, etc.

The omelet pans worked great, even made brownies and individual cakes in them.

Bought this instead of the Cuisnart that opens 180 degrees as the plates are interchangeable and can be placed in the microwave. Big mistake.

I used the G5 off and on over the last three years. A couple weeks ago I pulled it out to cook a quick grilled sandwhich, the top was toasted and the bottom barely melted the butter. I thought I didn't have the plate attached properly. Next morning I was using the G5 for some bacon while I used the 4 stove burners for other things. After 15 minutes the bacon was still not done. The handle gave me a mild shock. Hmm.

Being out of warranty I just wanted it repaired. Website lists no service centers. After waiting for 1 week without an email reply from customer service, I called and was disconnected several times before speaking with a woman who informed me there are no repair centers, applica (owns Salton) doesn't supply parts, diagrams or assistance to DYI folks or local electronics repair. Basically, if it breaks out of warranty, you throw it away and buy a new unit. They did offer me a special price on a new unit: $171 including shipping!

This unit underwhelmed me in performance and customer service set a new low for me.

I suggest you find another brand, or stick to the original if you can find one.

 "Good, but has shortcomings" 2008-12-25
By David Cornwell
This seems in general to be a good product, but with two exceptions that I've found so far. The power chord is very short which makes it difficult to find a good close outlet in the kitchen. Also the instruction booklet is not the best I've seen leaving some things to guessing.

"Nonstick coating comes of after several months " 2008-03-25
By Petrucci (Boston, MA)
After several months of light use, nonstick coating came off the removable plates. We took great care cleaning the plates, strictly adhering to the guides described in the product manual, but this happened anyway. Here is the worst part: even though our purchase was still under warranty, Salton was not willing to send us any replacement plates. They said they are out of stock two months ago, and are still "out of stock" as of last week, God knows if they will ever have these plates again. A terrible experience, will never buy from them again.
