 "Easy and convenient" 2009-09-12

Great way to whip up an omelet like meal. Cleanup is great. I also tried a brownie mix. Was ok but not sure I'll do it again.

"Just got this, So Glad I did." 2009-08-25

I ordered these plates yesterday (free shipping. Im lucky to live near the distributor). They were very cheap and the only thing I havent been able to make on my g5 was successful omelets. I had been making a mess of my omelets on my normal baking plate due to the uneven heating of the element and frankly, Im not that skilled in making eggs. This makes it so easy, I was very happy how quickly and mess-free my first batch of eggs came out.

Pros:

Super quick, evenly cooked omelets for very fast breakfast. The book says 4 minutes on high, but mine cooked thoroughly at around 75% heat in 3 minutes.

I can cook 2 omelets and prepare sausage or something else in another compartment, completely separate.

I havent tried baking with this yet, but I am excited to try. Small things like tacquitos could probably be pan-fried nicely.

Comes with a small recipe book for some good ideas.

Cons:

Wish the indents were a little bit deeper for more versatility.

Even after washing thoroughly, there was a smell of fumes off the new plates, probably some protective chemical burning off. I think the same happened with the other plates.

At this time, the plates are very inexpensive, its a good investment for anyone who does a lot of cooking on their foreman like me, and likes eggs. My most useful home appliance is even more useful now.

"Foreman's Grill Good, but the omelet plate," 2009-08-13

I really like the George Foreman grill, but the omelet plates are not deep enough. Everything spills over. I wish they had made a plate that mimics the sandwich makers, I don't use this plate very much.

"Great for making kids' lunches; Not just for omelets!" 2009-08-09
By Paige Turner
Many reviewers rate this lower because for omelets, these plates are really unnecessary. I agree that you can make omelets just fine with the G5 grill without ever purchasing these omelet plates; HOWEVER, these plates do so much more than make omelets. As some other reviewers have mentioned, the omelet plates can be used for making different kinds of pocket-style sandwiches and other things as well. One of my favorite uses for these plates is to make quick hand-held "sandwiches" for my kids using a box of Jiffy corn muffin mix (any corn muffin mix would work, though). The possibilities for add-ins to the cornbread are endless. Just mix the Jiffy mix as directed and throw in blueberries for a quick breakfast. Add in corn, black beans, jalapenos, and cheese for a nice cornbread with soup. You can chop hot dogs and add to the Jiffy mix to get something similar to a corn dog. I think you get the idea. Basically, any recipe you find that is based around a corn muffin mix will work great in the omelet plates. The possibilities really are endless. The Jiffy cake mixes and muffin mixes work well, too. Is this the healthiest stuff in the world? Probably not. But it does add variety to school lunches, and it's also a way to work in some veggies that would otherwise get picked over by my kids. And it is FAR better than any of the lunches our school has to offer. For parents who like to pack lunches for their kids, the omelet plates are great. It's easy to get in the PB&J rut, and the hand-held sandwiches that this can make offer a nice change of pace. I use 1/2 to 2/3 cup of the corn muffin mix per omelet space, and I usually get 3-4 hand-held sandwiches per box. These will cook up in no time at all, too--around ten minutes. I have found clean-up of any of the G5 plates to be quite easy. They are dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash as I find it is really no trouble at all, and I'm guessing the plates may last longer by not putting them in the dishwasher anyway. I would definitely recommend the omelet plates to any one who has the G5 grill.
