"Works fine, worth it if you do a lot of panini sandwiches" 2009-10-13
By Older and Wiser (Denver, CO, USA)
We've had this model for several years now. It works fine, but isn't perfect. Once you plug it in, the heating starts, the only way to turn it off is to unplug it. I consider this a safety issue. The heat control goes from 1-7; what does that mean? If you look at the expensive commercial-grade machines you'll see they have true gradated heat controls. The 1-7 settings give me no more help than the low, medium, high settings on the gas range or other low cost panini. The user manual gives no help either, you have to "burn it to learn it" as far as which setting to use. For occasional use, you may be better off with just a teflon saute or fry pan, especially if space is a problem in your home. It does a good job on burgers and filets and other BONELESS cuts of meat or chicken, but such items need to be uniform in thickness else the top side will not cook evenly. The cooking surfaces are NOT removable for cleaning and you cannot immerse this in water. Know these things and then make an informed decision. Overall, we think it's a good product that does the job but it is not the perfect appliance.

"Great Grill AND Customer Service" 2008-12-05
By Lynne A. Sprowls (Rocky Mountains, CO)
We got this grill around a year ago and my family is spoiled!!! They will only eat paninis now, no non-grilled sandwiches around our house. So we were quite disappointed when a screw dropped out and down the register, especially after all the "knocks" I'd read on their customer service; we hadn't bothered to register ours and weren't sure it was still in warranty. I was thrilled when I called their CS dept. and they offered to replace the entire unit, no questions asked. Otherwise this is a terrific product, highly versatile and easy to clean -- I would buy it again and recommend it to a friend! -- LS in CO

"Avoid this Villaware panini grill" 2007-11-10
By T. Scheel (CT)
Had this for a year or two and it stopped working completely. There is NO customer support from the manufacturer. Worked great til it died, but should not have died so soon. Would not buy again.

"Heavy and a challenge for storage GREAT" 2007-07-07
By J. C. Sharp (Central Valley, Calif)
Great baker - we love the Panini we get from it - but storage is a challenge. It is large which means we get several sandwiches at a time but takes significant space in cabinet. Sandwiches are just like we had in Italy - great to put together ahead of time for parties and then just bake as needed.
